Relationships That Compound Authority

Dennis and I walked into the Boostability office in Utah, sat on their webinar, then ate street tacos with the team. Nobody paid for an introduction. Reputation pulled the meeting. That is the SEO most people skip.

I am the relationships person in this clip. Dennis is the SEO person. Mike Jensen runs marketing there. He has known Dennis for about twelve years. He opened his client base and said so on the recording. You cannot buy that tone.

Rooms like this are the point of the work. You do not cold-call your way into them.

What happened in Utah?

Dennis posted that he would be in town with me. Mike said come by. If we are already in the office, we might as well do a webinar. An hour on local SEO, agencies that are struggling, and what still works now that AI is in the mix. Boostability white-labels SEO for a lot of agencies. Afterward they asked which events they should actually attend. Dennis named rooms where he already knew the founders and could make a clean intro — only if the work on both sides would hold.

That last part matters. A bad referral is your name on a complaint. We are careful. We are not the ShamWow guy. We are not a 15%-off code. If I broker a relationship, I am putting High Rise and Dennis on the line.

Why is this an SEO article?

Because citations are people. Google reads the public record. Humans still decide who gets invited onto the webinar that goes to every client. If you only optimize pages and never get invited, you are doing half the job. If you only network and never publish proof, you are the other half. Dennis Yu has both. I am building the High Rise version of the same stack.

Dollar a Day is how we then aim paid attention at the proof, not at a cold audience. The Dollar a Day method is public. The webinar was the relationship sitting on top of it.

What should you copy?

Stop being transactional. I have made introductions that paid nothing on the day. That is not a bug. Do not be the ATM. Publish work people can inspect. Then show up in the city. Then say yes when someone asks for the webinar you did not request.

The Bavaria film is the philosophy under this: real influence versus fake PR.
