From Paintbrush to Portfolio: How Colby Joseph Davis Built a Multi-State Painting Empire and Beyond

Colby Joseph Davis’s story begins where many tradespeople start—holding a brush and bucket. In his teens, Davis worked alongside his father in the plumbing and painting trades and learned firsthand the value of delivering quality workmanship and honest service. Over the years he transformed those lessons into Davis Painting, a company that has become one of the fastest-growing residential and commercial painting firms in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

But Davis didn’t stop with paint. Recognizing that the home-services sector was fragmented and ripe for consolidation, he founded Indy Capital, a public markets investment and real-estate holding company with an operational arm called Indy Brands. Through Indy Brands, Davis’s team acquires, scales and sells top-performing home-service businesses across the United States. The first brands under its umbrella include Davis Painting, SUDS Power Washing, Light Your Night, and Honest Roofing. This diversified portfolio allows Indy Capital to share resources, marketing expertise and management best practices across complementary companies, creating efficiencies that independent operators cannot easily achieve.

Davis attributes his success to a commitment to people. “We only win when our team members win,” he often says. Every acquisition focuses on retaining and growing staff, offering clear career paths and ongoing training. That philosophy stems from his early days on job sites where he saw talented tradespeople undervalued. Today, Indy Capital’s growth plans include more acquisitions in painting, roofing, outdoor living and power-washing services, but Davis remains adamant that expansion won’t come at the expense of company culture.
